The Roux Scholarship is an outstanding event in the culinary year and has been since it started. It celebrates 29 years of recognising and rewarding excellence. The 2012 award ceremony was no exception. The event took place on Monday 2nd April at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Hyde Park, London.

The scholarship is now in its 29th year. The scholarship offers the winner a career changing opportunity: a three month stage at a 3 Michelin starred restaurant anywhere in the world, in addition to many other fabulous prizes. The winner is part of an elite club and on a fast track to the top of the profession. The Roux Scholarship is the premier competition for young chefs in the UK and ranks among the most prestigious in the world.

Laura King is good friends with Alain Roux and supports them in every way she can regarding the scholarship. This year she donated Royal Belgian caviar for the event.

Laura and all of the team here at Kings would like to congratulate Adam Smith for winning this year's scholarship. He prepared and cooked a very impressive whole turbot deboned and stuffed with a lobster mousse and served with a champagne sauce.
